Ford unveils 2016 F-150 Limited pickup

July 21, 2015
A “new level of luxury” is how Ford Motor Co. is summing up the 2016 version of its F-150 Limited pickup line, which goes on sale this winter; setting what Raj Nair, Ford’s group VP for global product development calls “a new bar” for what customers should expect in a “high-end” truck. “We’re adding segment-exclusive technology and features that improve productivity, convenience and capability with distinctive style,” Nair said in a statement.

On the outside, the 2016 F-150 Limited comes equipped with 22-inch polished aluminum wheels and raised dimensional “Limited” lettering on the hood, along with a unique front grille and satin-finished chrome “Limited” badge on the tailgate.

Available exterior colors for the F-150 Limited now include Shadow Black, Magnetic, Blue Jeans and White Platinum Metallic tri-coat.

Other new tweaks to the 2016 F-150 Limited’s exterior include: chrome front tow hooks (4x4 model only), panoramic vista roof, power-deployable running boards, and quad-beam LED [light emitting diode] headlamps.

Inside, Ford is making a wide range of premium accouterments standard features on the 2016 F-150 Limited:

  • Its technology package includes a lane-keeping system, BLIS with cross-traffic alert, a 360-degree camera system and dynamic trailer hitch assist.
  • Remote start and tailgate release as well as an integrated trailer brake controller all come standard as well.
  • Heated and cooled black and Mojave leather front seats that are unique in design and feature Limited badging, 10-way power adjustment with a “multi-contour” massage function. Heated rear seats are included, too.
  • Ford’s latest SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system with AppLink is a standard offering.
  • A Sony 10-speaker sound system with HD Radio, subwoofer and single compact disc (CD) player paired with a five-year subscription to SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link complete the 2016 F-150 Limited’s technology package.

The 2016 F-150 Limited comes standard with Ford’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, which cranks out 365 hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that comes with tow/haul and sport modes plus SelectShift with progressive range select, the OEM said  its 2016 F-150 Limited offers EPA-estimated fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway for a combined 20 mpg rating.

Ford added that 2016 F-150 Limited Four-wheel-drive models also features two-speed/automatic/four-wheel drive capability; a feature that automatically shifts between two-wheel and four-wheel drive depending on driving surface traction conditions.
