Shaun Skinner is going to take over as president of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America (ICTA) effective April 1 this year, replacing Hisao Sasaki, who will return to Isuzu Motors Limited in Japan.
Skinner already serves as president of Isuzu Commercial Truck of Canada, the OEM noted.
Shigeji Sugimoto, ICTA’s chairman, said that Skinner’s promotion after a 29-year career with Isuzu and more than eight years as executive VP and GM is aimed at driving Isuzu’s relationship with dealers and customers “even closer” as the company “looks to become more market- and customer-focused in the future.”
Skinner joined American Isuzu Motors Inc. in June 1987, moving to the company’s commercial vehicle division in 2002.
In early March, Skinner personally unveiled the new 2018 Isuzu FTR at the NTEA’s Work Truck Show – the OEM’s all-new entry in the Class 6 medium-duty truck segment, which is slated to go into production in the U.S. in mid-2017 – to take aim at the growing demand for city-focused vehicles.
He added that Isuzu’s dealers sold some 20,725 trucks in 2015 – a company record for the North American market.
"This is where we see increasing needs for a truck that can handle urban pickup and delivery, offers excellent fuel economy and offers low cost of ownership,” Skinner noted. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work more closely with our dealers and our customers as we come off a record sales year and as we look forward to launching the exciting new FTR next year.”
