Ford Motor Co. said it's marked 40 consecutive years as the best-selling commercial van brand in the U.S. That's four decades for large vans and 10 years in the small van segment Ford opened up here with its Transit Connect.

Having made those sales possible, the OEM thanked the "commercial buyers and fleets that keep America working, families who need a lot of seating, and adventurers who prefer homes that have wheels."

From 1979 through 2018, Ford tallies more than 7.1 million van sales from its models like Econoline (later E-series), Transit, and Transit Connect. The Ford Transit and Transit Connect, both national best-sellers the company claims among large and small vans, respectively, helped Ford continue to lead in U.S. commercial van sales, outselling other brands in 2018.
