Recall Roundup: New recalls issued for commercial vehicles

NHTSA’s latest safety notices feature fuel pump failure, inactive airbags, and more.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Daimler Truck North America, Ford, Tesla, and more.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

DTNA models’ fuel pump failure may cause engine stall

Daimler Truck North America is recalling certain 2025 Freightliner Cascadia, Western Star 49X, Freightliner Custom Chassis XCM, and Freightliner Custom Chassis XCP vehicles equipped with certain Cummins fuel pumps. The fuel pump barrels may fracture and cause a fuel leak, which can result in an engine stall. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 588 vehicles. Cummins will replace the fuel pump barrels. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 22. Owners may contact DTNA Customer Service at 800-745-8000. DTNA's number for this recall is F1010. Owners may also contact Cummins Customer Service at 812-377-5000.

Ford models’ improperly illuminated gear indicator lights

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2024 F-53 Recreational Stripped Chassis and 2024 F-59 Commercial Stripped Chassis vehicles. The instrument panel cluster may not properly display the transmission gear position indicator. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, "Transmission Shift Position Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." A transmission gear position indicator that fails to illuminate can make it difficult to identify the correct transmission shift position, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 761 vehicles. Dealers will update the instrument panel cluster module software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 18. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24C32.

International models’ fuel pump failure may cause engine stall

International Motors is recalling certain 2025 International HX and International LT vehicles equipped with Cummins X15 diesel engines. The fuel pump barrels may fracture and cause a fuel leak, resulting in an engine stall. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 1,086 vehicles. International Motors will work with the equipment manufacturer, Cummins, to replace the fuel pump barrels. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 22. Owners may contact International Motors Customer Service at 331-332-1590 or Cummins Customer Service at 812-377-5000. Cummins' number for the recall is C7083.

International HV inactive airbags may fail to deploy

International Motors is recalling certain 2025 International CV vehicles. The airbag module may not have been activated during installation. Inactive airbags will not deploy during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

This recall potentially affects six vehicles. International Motors will activate the airbag modules. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 22. Owners may call Navistar Customer Service at 331-332-1590.

Jeep models’ high-voltage battery may fail and cause fire

Chrysler is recalling certain 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler and 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. The high-voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving. A vehicle fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

This recall potentially affects 154,032 vehicles. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures, and not to recharge their vehicles until they are repaired. Dealers will update the high-voltage battery pack software and replace the battery pack assembly, if necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 17. Owners may contact Chrysler Customer Service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 95B. Vehicles in this recall that were previously recalled for the same issue under NHTSA Recall 23V-787 will need to have the new remedy performed.

Ram ProMaster BEV’s loss of drive power 

Chrysler is recalling certain 2024 Ram ProMaster battery electric vehicles. Incorrect software in the motor control processor module may cause a loss of drive power. A loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 336 vehicles. Dealers will update the MCPA software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 10. Owners may contact Chrysler Customer Service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 99B.

Ram 1500 turn signal malfunction 

Chrysler is recalling certain 2023-2024 Ram 1500 vehicles. The turn signal self-canceling feature may not function properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Turn signals that do not function properly may fail to indicate the driver's intention to change vehicle direction, increasing the risk of a crash.  

This recall potentially affects 129,313 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and replace the steering column control module as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 29. Owners may contact Chrysler Customer Service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is A1B.

Tesla Cybertruck rearview camera image may not display

Tesla is recalling certain 2024 Cybertruck vehicles. The rearview camera image may be delayed after shifting into reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility." A delayed rearview image reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 27,185 vehicles. Tesla released an over-the-air software update. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 25. Owners may contact Tesla Customer Service at 877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-00-016.
