The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Autocar, Ford, Kenworth, and more.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

Autocar Xspotter models’ incorrect tire inflation label

Autocar is recalling certain 2012-2025 ACTT vehicles. The tire inflation information label is incorrect. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims." Incorrect tire inflation information can result in under-inflated tires, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 195 vehicles. Autocar will mail corrected labels. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 29. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is ACTT-2504.

Autocar models’ insufficient volume in air tank

Autocar is recalling certain 2015-2022 ACTT and ACX vehicles. The air tanks have an insufficient volume of air for the brake system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems." Insufficient air volume can reduce brake function, extending the distance required to stop and increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 49 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and replace or add additional air tanks as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 29. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 888-218-3611. Autocar's numbers for this recall are ACTT-2503 and ACX-2503.

Ford models’ low-pressure fuel pump may fail

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2021-2023 Bronco, Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, 2021-2022 Lincoln Navigator, Mustang, F-150, and 2022 Expedition vehicles. The low-pressure fuel pump may fail, which can result in an engine stall while driving. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 850,318 vehicles. The remedy is under development. Letters notifying owners of the safety risk were expected to be mailed July 14. Second letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S75.

Kenworth, Peterbilt models’ insufficient illumination from lights

Paccar is recalling certain 2023-2026 Kenworth T380, T680, T880, Peterbilt 520, 548, 567, 579; 2024-2026 Kenworth T480, W990, Peterbilt 536, 537, 589, 2025 Kenworth T180, Peterbilt 535; and 2025-2026 Kenworth T280 and L770 vehicles. The tail brake light, upper and lower beam headlights, reverse light, and turn signal may not illuminate as intended. In addition, the lift axles, if lowered, may revert to a raised position or oscillate up and down when the signal warning lights are activated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment." Delayed and unsteady headlights can result in insufficient illumination of the road, decreasing the driver's visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, an unexpected position change of the lift axles may increase the risk of injury.

This recall potentially affects 56,575 vehicles. Dealers will update the VCU software. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact Kenworth's customer service at 425-828-5888 and Peterbilt's customer service at 940-591-4220. Paccar’s number for this recall is 25PACF.

Motiv models’ high-voltage battery may short-circuit

Motiv Power Systems is recalling certain 2021-2024 F-59 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 6 EPIC powertrain. The high-voltage battery pack may be improperly sealed and allow liquid to enter the battery. Liquid intrusion into a battery pack can cause a loss of electrical isolation or short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire or shock hazard.

This recall potentially affects 55 vehicles. Motiv worked with Our Next Energy to inspect and repair the battery packs as necessary. All affected vehicles were repaired by November 2024. Owners may contact Motiv customer service at 650-458-4804.
