ArvinMeritor announced the re-establishment of its off-highway original equipment and aftermarket components business

LAS VEGAS—ArvinMeritor announced the re-establishment of its off-highway original equipment and aftermarket components business in North America, South America, Europe and Africa markets here at Conexpo-Con/Agg 2008. The company had been in the Asia-Pacific market through a joint venture with Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group.

”ArvinMeritor has been a major player in the specialty vehicles and off-highway components business for close to 100 years, and we are now poised to re-establish this business,” said Tim Bowes, vp - specialty products for ArvinMeritor’s commercial vehicle systems.

According to the company, its new loader driver and global hub-reduction axles are designed for off-highway vehicle customers. The 44,000 lb. capacity loader axle features multi-plate wet disc brakes and an articulating trunion mount, while the global hub reduction axle of single and tandem rear axles has been introduced for heavy-haul and construction, refuse, logging, concrete and mining vocational applications.

The hub reduction axles, first offered in Asia, features weight savings of 600 lbs., with the single axle rated at 26,000-35,000 lbs. GAW and the tandem rated at 52,000-70,000 lbs. GAW, the company said.
