Grote Industries has debuted an LED arrow signal lamp, featuring a piercing, large amber light. The light gives drivers following vehicles equipped with the LED signal extra time to notice turns, the company said.

"The easier and more quickly drivers can identify a turning vehicle ahead, the better they can adjust their speed and accurately estimate stopping time and distance," said Steve Green, business development manager for Grote's signal lighting division. "A large, clear arrow pattern will improve the amount of time drivers have to react to a turning vehicle."

The lamp is constructed to last 100,000 hours, and the shock-resistant LED technology is designed to stand up to the punishment of long hauls and bad roads, according to Grote.

"You're talking about saving a lot of time and aggravation due to repairs and replacement, not to mention, critical downtime for drivers," said Green. "With high fuel costs and regulation squeezing everyone, particularly owner-operators, any opportunity to save money is big."
