Last month, FleetOwner released its 2026 FleetOwner 500: For-Hire list, which ranks the largest motor carrier and commercial fleet operations in the U.S. This year, the for-hire list saw shake-ups in all but the top five spots for the second year in a row.
In addition to creating this list, FleetOwner also breaks these fleets down into categories, either by equipment or by the fleet's main cargo type or segment. This media gallery will focus on agricultural fleets; upcoming FleetOwner top 10 lists will rank fleets by other subsections.
Agricultural trucking includes the transportation of harvested goods, livestock, farming equipment, and other farming materials. This type of trucking comes with unique challenges, especially when involving livestock. FMCSA has specific requirements and exemptions for fleets and drivers transporting agricultural cargo to ensure food safety, the transport of livestock, and the necessary flexibility for hours of service.
This year’s agricultural fleet number dropped from eight to six. This means that many of these fleets moved up in the agriculture rankings despite dropping in the overall 500 ranks. However, Southern AG Carriers dropped from No. 5 to No. 6. CTI rose to No. 4 over Vallery Farm Transport at No. 5.
