FleetOwner's 2026 FleetOwner 500: For-Hire list ranks the largest motor carrier and commercial fleet operations in the U.S. This year, the for-hire list saw shake-ups in all but the top five spots for the second year in a row.
In addition to publishing this annual list, FleetOwner also breaks these fleets down into Top 10 categories, either by equipment or by the fleet's main cargo type or segment. This media gallery will focus on general freight fleets; upcoming FleetOwner top 10 lists will rank fleets by other subsections.
General cargo refers to goods that need to be transported in boxes, bags, barrels, and similar containers, according to Inbound Logistics. On the other hand, bulk cargo is shipped in special bulk trucks without any additional packaging.
Compared to last year, the first five spots in this top 10 remain the same. But Prime fell from No. 6 last year to No. 8, and Ryder and Evans Network moved up. Nos. 9 and 10 also remained unchanged from last year. All in all, the fleets in this top 10 reside in the top 19 spots of the 500 list.
