Navistar begins equipping TranStar with 13-liter SCR engine

Truck and engine OEM Navistar is beginning to equip its International TranStar regional haul tractor with MaxxForce 13-liter engines upgraded with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) emissions control technology provided by Cummins.

This is the fifth of its heavy-duty truck models to transition to SCR technology since December, noted Bill Kozek, newly installed president of Navistar’s North America Truck and Parts division.

"We continue to rapidly increase our 15-liter and 13-liter product coverage and we remain on track to complete the SCR transition of our heavy-duty truck offerings," he added.

To date, the company said its portfolio of SCR-based heavy-duty trucks includes: the International ProStar highway tractor, International PayStar 5900 Set-Back Axle model; International WorkStar model; and International 9900i featuring the Cummins ISX 15-liter SCR-equipped engine.
