The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Daimler, General Motors, and more.

Chevrolet, GMC models’ electronic stability control light may not illuminate
General Motors is recalling certain 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV electric vehicles. After experiencing an electronic stability control (ESC) system malfunction, the ESC malfunction warning light may not illuminate on the next key cycle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems." An indicator light that does not illuminate may fail to warn the driver of an ESC system issue, increasing the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 1,191 vehicles. The EBCM software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) software update. Daimler models’ loose brake caliper mounting bolts
Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) is recalling certain 2025 FCCC XCR, FCCC XBS, FCCC MT45, Western Star 57X, 2025-2026 FCCC MT55, FCCC MT45G, FCCC XCP, FCCC XCM, Freightliner Cascadia, Freightliner Business Class M2, Western Star 49X, Western Star 47X, and 2026 FCCC MT50E vehicles. The brake caliper mounting bolts may loosen and detach, which can cause a loss of brake function and damage the tire and/or wheel. A loss of brake function can increase the risk of a crash. In addition, a damaged wheel or tire can lead to a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Daimler models’ loss of steering control from improperly installed fasteners
Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Western Star 47X, Freightliner Business Class M2, FCCC MT55G, 2025-2026 Western Star 49X, Freightliner Cascadia, FCCC MT45G, FCCC S2RV106, 2026 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2, Freightliner eCascadia, and FCCC S2C106 vehicles. The tie rod castle nut and cotter pin may not be installed properly, which can result in a loss of vehicle steering control. A loss of vehicle steering control increases the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 343 vehicles. The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 10. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is D25R2.
Orange EV models’ hazard lights may shut off
Orange EV (OEV) is recalling certain 2017-2024 T-Series, 2023-2025 e-TRIEVER, and HUSK-e terminal trucks. The hazard warning lights may turn off when the ignition is in the 'Off' position. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Hazard lights that do not remain on cannot warn other drivers of a disabled vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 1,378 vehicles. OEV field service will install a new hazard light wire harness and update the software. Ram models’ side curtain airbag inflators may rupture
Chrysler is recalling certain 2018 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 vehicles. The right and left side curtain airbag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect. An inflator rupture may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in injury.
This recall potentially affects 1,761 vehicles. Dealers will replace one or both side curtain airbags as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 9.
