The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicle equipment, including brands from Ford, Volvo, Wabash, and more.

Altec models’ incorrect GAWR on certification labels

Altec Industries is recalling certain 2023-2025 Aerial Device and 2025 Digger Derrick vehicles. The gross axle weight rating (GAWR) listed on the vehicle certification label may be incorrect, leading to the vehicle being unintentionally overloaded. An overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 15 vehicles. Altec will inspect and replace the labels as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 14. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN CSN-3251.

Brenner Tank models’ internal and outlet valve may corrode and leak

Brenner Tank is recalling certain 2025-2026 TKQXFR tank trailers. The internal and outlet valves may corrode and leak. Hazardous liquids may leak onto people near the tank, increasing the risk of injury.

This recall potentially affects eight vehicles. Brenner Tank will replace the internal and outlet valves. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 8. Owners may contact Brenner Tank customer service at 800-558-8265.

Chevrolet, Isuzu models’ fuel heater may overheat and cause a fire

Isuzu Motors is recalling certain 2022-2026 Isuzu FVR, Isuzu FTR, Chevrolet 6500XD, and 2023-2026 Chevrolet 7500XD vehicles. The fuel heater may overheat, melting the casing and allowing fuel to leak into the electrical connector. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

This recall potentially affects 11,385 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel heater and electrical connectors as necessary. Ford models’ loss of steering control from steering column detachment

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2020-2021 F-250, F-350, and F-450 vehicles. The steering column upper shaft may detach from the steering column and result in a loss of steering control. A loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 115,539 vehicles. Dealers will inspect the steering column and repair or replace the upper shaft as necessary. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed October 6. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in December 2025. Ford models’ high-pressure fuel pump may leak and cause a fire

Ford is recalling certain 2024 Bronco and Ranger vehicles. The bolts securing the high-pressure fuel pump may not be tightened properly, which can result in a fuel leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

This recall potentially affects nine vehicles. Dealers will replace the high-pressure fuel pump mounting bolts. Owner notification letters were mailed in September. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S90.

Ford Transit models’ incorrect tires and steering coupler cover installed

Ford is recalling certain 2023-2024 Transit vehicles repaired incorrectly under recall numbers 24V226 and 24V591. An incorrect steering coupler cover and tires that were not designed for the vehicle may have been installed during a previous repair. Incorrect tires and an incorrect steering coupler cover can cause a loss of brake function, loss of steering control, or damage to tires, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 212 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the tires, tire placard, and certification label, as well as recalibrate the vehicle. Additionally, dealers will remove the steering coupler cover. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed October 13. Mack Pioneer models’ inoperative trailer lighting

Mack Trucks is recalling certain 2025-2026 Pioneer vehicles. When towing a trailer, the trailer lights may fail to illuminate due to an improperly manufactured body control module. Trailer tail lights and turn signals that do not illuminate as intended can reduce visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter models’ improperly reinforced frame members

Daimler Vans USA (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and Sprinter 3500 vehicles. The longitudinal frame members may not be reinforced properly. Frame members with inadequate strength may reduce the vehicle's performance in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

This recall potentially affects four vehicles. Dealers will inspect and repair the frame as necessary. Ram models' trailer hitch may detach

Reading Truck Body is recalling certain 2023 Ram 4500 vehicles equipped with a Curt Hitch (P/N 15400). The trailer hitch may have been installed with too few mounting bolts, causing the assembly to loosen and detach. A detached trailer hitch assembly can create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 10 vehicles. Reading will replace the hitch. Owner notification letters were mailed in September. Owners may contact Reading's customer service at 610-775-3301.

Volvo VN models’ inoperative trailer lighting

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling certain 2025-2026 New VN trucks. When towing a trailer, the trailer lights may fail to illuminate due to an improperly manufactured body control module. Wabash models’ insufficient rear impact protection

Wabash is recalling certain 2026 DVCVHPC van trailers. The incorrect rear impact guard may have been installed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 224, "Rear Impact Protection." The incorrect guard may not sufficiently protect a following vehicle during a rear-end crash, increasing the risk of injury.

This recall potentially affects 10 vehicles. Wabash replaced the rear impact guards. All affected trailers were repaired by August 18. Owners may contact Wabash customer service at 765-771-5404.
