Key takeaways

  • Autocar 2023–2024 ESC, Ford E-Transit 2026 batteries, and Ford Transit 2023–2024 crossmembers risk crashes or fire.
  • Pierce 2025 steering arms and Ram/Jeep 2024–2026 trailer modules can fail, causing loss of steering or trailer brakes.
  • Fleet managers should track recalls, contact dealers, and complete inspections promptly to protect drivers and ensure compliance.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Autocar and Ford.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

Autocar Xpeditor models’ electronic stability control unit may become damaged

Autocar is recalling certain 2023-2024 ACX (Xpeditor) vehicles. Contact with the drive line yoke may damage the electronic stability control (ESC) unit. A damaged ESC unit may malfunction, disabling the electronic stability control and increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 11 vehicles. Autocar will relocate the ESC unit. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 27. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is ACX-2601.

Ford E-Transit models’ high-voltage battery may cause fire

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2026 E-Transit vehicles. Bolts inside the high-voltage battery pack may be missing washers, which can cause high electrical resistance or electrical arcing. Electrical arcing increases the risk of a fire. In addition, a loss of drive power may occur, which can increase the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 98 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and repair the busbar fasteners and replace the busbar if necessary. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed on February 9. Owners may contact Ford Customer Service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S05.

Ford Transit models’ engine crossmember improperly secured

Ford is recalling certain 2023-2024 Transit vehicles. The engine crossmember may not be secured properly, which can cause the engine to shift and possibly result in a loss of drive power or brake failure. A loss of drive power or brake failure increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 1,403 vehicles. Dealers will replace the crossmember fasteners. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed February 20. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S04.

Pierce models’ steering linkage arm may detach

Pierce Manufacturing is recalling certain 2025 Velocity, Saber, Impel, Enforcer, and Arrow XT vehicles. The steering linkage arm bolt may come loose, resulting in the steering linkage arm detaching from the steering motor. Steering linkage arm detachment can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 51 vehicles. Dealers will tighten the steering linkage arm bolts. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 13. Owners may contact Pierce customer service at 888-974-3723.

Ram, Jeep models’ inoperative trailer lighting and trailer brake failure

Chrysler is recalling certain 2024-2026 Jeep Wagoneer S; 2025-2026 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Cab Chassis, Ram 4500 Cab Chassis, Ram 5500 Cab Chassis; and 2026 Jeep Cherokee vehicles. Due to an improperly designed trailer tow module, the trailer lights may fail to illuminate, and the trailer brakes may fail. Trailer brake lights and turn signals that do not illuminate reduce visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, trailer brakes that fail increase the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 456,287 vehicles. Dealers will replace the trailer tow module. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 24. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 800-853-1403. FCA US LLC's number for this recall is 03D.
