Recall Roundup: NHTSA issues recalls for Ford, GM, Arboc, and Mitsubishi Fuso trucks
Key takeaways
- NHTSA recalls affect thousands of Ford, GM, Arboc, and Mitsubishi Fuso trucks, highlighting fleet safety risks.
- Critical issues include rear ABS failures, EGR valve malfunctions, software errors, and missing electronic manuals.
- Fleet managers should monitor recalls closely to maintain compliance and reduce accident and operational risks.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Ford, General Motors, and more.
Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.
Arboc Specialty Vehicles models’ loss of rear ABS system
Arboc Specialty Vehicles is recalling certain 2018-2026 Spirit of Freedom and Spirit of Mobility transit buses. The rear brake lines may have been installed incorrectly, causing the antilock brake system (ABS) modulator valve to malfunction. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems." Loss of the rear ABS system can increase the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 871 vehicles. Arboc will provide instructions to reroute and reconnect the rear brake lines. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 24. Owners may contact Arboc customer service at 866-953-5555.
Ford models’ loss of drive power from EGR valve failure
Ford is recalling certain 2025 Ranger, Lincoln Nautilus, Mustang, Maverick, Explorer, Escape, Lincoln Corsair, Bronco Sport, and Bronco vehicles. The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve may fail, resulting in an unexpected loss of drive power. An unexpected loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 47,804 vehicles. The remedy is currently under development. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were expected to be mailed March 16. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in September of this year. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S10.
General Motors models’ missing owner manuals
General Motors decided that certain 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV; 2025-2026 Cadillac OPTIQ, Chevrolet Colorado, Equinox EV, GMC Canyon; 2026 Buick Enclave, Envision, Cadillac CT5, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade IQ, Escalade IQL, LYRIQ, VISTIQ, Chevrolet Blazer EV, Corvette Convertible, Corvette Coupe, Corvette Convertible E-Ray, Equinox, Silverado 1500, 2500, 3500, Silverado EV, Suburban 1500, Tahoe, Traverse, GMC Acadia, Hummer EV Pickup, Hummer EV SUV, Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, Sierra EV, Terrain, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The radio may not have been set to the correct status to download the electronic owner's manual during production. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, “Occupant Protection.” Without an owner's manual to consult, owners may not know how to safely use and operate the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
This recall potentially affects 5,482 vehicles. Dealers will reset the vehicle radio, which will facilitate automatic download of the electronic owner’s manual. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 13. Owners may contact GM customer service at 866-467-9700, Chevrolet customer service at 800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 800-333-4223. The manufacturer's number for this recall is N252540430.
Mitsubishi Fuso Rizon models’ software error may prevent vehicles from being driven
Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America (MFTA) is recalling certain 2024 Rizon FEC7K (E16), FEC9K (E18), and 2025 FECXK (E18) trucks. While idling, the electrical control unit may transmit an error that prevents the truck from being driven. A vehicle that is unable to move as needed increases the risk of a crash.
This recall potentially affects 244 vehicles. Dealers will reprogram the battery management system and DC-Box software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 23. Owners may contact MFTA customer service at 877-711-0707. MFTA's number for this recall is C10136.
