Haldex Commercial Vehicle Systems has released the Haldex Tandem system, an air-drying system that uses two desiccant-type air dryers working in tandem to remove humidity, dirt particles and oil from the compressed air system.

The unique design for Novabus incorporates the Dryest Air Drying system working in parallel with a condenser and external governor, Haldex said. The system is a first for transportation applications, the company said, and helps reduce the risks of freezing and corroding air components.

The system meets or exceeds 2010-cfm capacity standards, up to 80 cfm for high capacity compressors. It includes built-in drain ports with tubing to direct fluids away from the operating environment. Desiccant life is expected to last two to three years between cartridge changes, said Haldex.
