Kenworth adds lane departure warning option

Kenworth Truck Co. (NASDAQ: PCAR) has added the Takata SafeTraK 3 lane departure warning system as an available option on the Kenworth T660, T700, and T800

Kenworth Truck Co. (NASDAQ: PCAR) has added the Takata SafeTraK 3 lane departure warning system as an available option on the Kenworth T660, T700, and T800.

The system must be spec’d in conjunction with Kenworth’s optional curved, one-piece windshield. The system uses a windshield-mounted video camera with vision software. It will signal a driver with audio alerts if the vehicle leaves its intended lane without use of the turn signal, perhaps indicating an inadvertent lane departure.

SafeTraK 3 is compatible with the standard J1939 wiring system. It fully integrates a camera, optics, processor and power supply into a compact unit that is Kenworth factory installed. Installation includes a wiring harness, two headliner-mounted speakers, dash-mounted rocker switch and system status lamp, and driver’s guide for the glove box.

A pre-wire option is also available.
