TruckWeight has announced its Smart Scale wireless scale for commercial vehicles is now available as an installed option on trailers produced by Mac Trailer Manufacturing.

Mac designs and builds trailers for flatdeck loads, refuse, and other weight-sensitive trucking applications. The Smart Scale will be available for sale and aftermarket installation through Mac’s 70 dealers across the U.S.

“Our wireless Smart Scale…produces fast, accurate axle-weight readings that can help Mac customers load efficiently and to the maximum allowable capacity,” said Peter Panagapko, president of TruckWeight. “It gives them a competitive edge and pays for itself quickly.”

He said Smart Scale measures temperature and pressure changes in a vehicle’s air suspension and wirelessly relays this data to a handheld receiver using a low-powered radio transmitter. The result is an axle weight and gross vehicle weight measurement that’s within 0.3% of the actual gross vehicle weight, he said, with the wireless reader’s 500-ft. line-of-sight allowing it to deliver measurements from the truck cab or the seat of a loading machine.
