Michelin Americas Truck Tires (MATT) has released two new tires for on/off road applications

Michelin Americas Truck Tires (MATT) has released two new tires for on/off road applications.

The Michelin X Works XDY is designed for “exceptional” traction and wear while the XDY-EX2 is said to be the company’s most aggressive drive axle tire for extreme operating conditions found commonly in logging, oil field, and mining environments.

“For today’s construction and on/off road fleets, it’s all about operational efficiency,” said Ted Becker, vice president of marketing for Michelin Americas Truck Tires. “Traction and overall tire protection are paramount to maintaining uptime. The Michelin X Works XDY and the XDY-EX2 tires feature maximum sidewall protection with aggressive tread designs that deliver exceptional traction and durability.”

According to Michelin, the new X Works tire offers a 10% improvement in mileage compared to the company’s XDY 3.

A directional tread design that improves mud evacuation for improved traction and the use of Michelin’s Co-Ex technology for maximum tread and casing life are characteristics of the tire.

Co-Ex Technology combines a top tread layer of chip and tear resistant compounds with a cool base tread layer to preserve the casing, Michelin said.

The tire also features an extra-thick sidewall to protect against damage. The X Works is available in 11R22.5 and 11R24.5 sizes.

The XDY-EX2 tire offers improved off-road and mud traction from an aggressive tread design with more void area when compared to the previous generation, the XDY-EX, the company said.

This tire also includes Co-Ex technology and extra-thick sidewalls. It is available in an 11R24.5 size.
