A new scan tool offering provides OEM-specific coverage without the cost and complexity of factory scan tools, Snap-on said.

The Solus Ultra is a full-function scan tool that quickly diagnoses issues. The tool includes steady-charge battery technology that charges directly from the vehicle; and a 7-in. widescreen display for easy readability.

“Our new Solus Ultra combines all of the best features of Solus Pro, plus gives customers even more capabilities to make jobs easier and faster,” said William Bruno, vice president of sales and marketing for Snap-on Diagnostics.

The tool also offers a single, keyless adapter that covers all OBD-II applications; complete functionality from the touchscreen interface or from a four-way keypad and Y/N button; and unique “cause and effect” diagnostics that displays functional tests side-by-side with live data.

According to Snap-on, the Solus Ultra provides coverage for dozens of vehicle systems including the new systems such as hybrids, TPMS, steering, body controls, EVAP, and clean diesels.

It has an embedded operating system and includes scanner coverage for 1980 and newer domestic and Asian vehicles. Capabilities include codes, live data (PIDS), functional tests, relearns and adaptations, the company said, adding that it includes its Fast-Track Troubleshooter that offers fast fixes such as code tips, symptoms, tests and timesavers based on experience.
