LOUISVILLE. Select members of the North American SCR Stakeholder Group--including Daimler Trucks North America, Detroit Diesel, Freightliner, Western Star Trucks, Blue1USA DEF Dispensing Systems, Cummins Inc. and Cummins Filtration, Hino Trucks, Koch Industries, Balcrank, Colder Products and Mauser--offered an overview of the diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) infrastructure being developed to enable the rollout of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology by many diesel engine makers to meet the EPA 2010 emissions rules.

The multi-organization exhibit and presentation was coordinated by FactsAboutSCR.com, an online resource developed on behalf of the North American SCR Stakeholders Group, which represents nearly 200 public and private organizations. Participants include government agencies (including the U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency), engine and truck manufacturers, trade associations, fuel retailers and truckstop trade associations, chemical and oil companies, DEF producers, distributors and dispensing equipment manufacturers.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Office of Alternative Fuels and Vehicle Technologies also provided a demonstration link to its web-based DEF locator. The locator is an online tool designed to help drivers identify sourcing options for DEF supplies across the country. The link is currently in development and will go live later this year.
