Tire tracking tool granted patent

Feb. 22, 2012

TAMPA, FL. Track My Tread, a cradle-to-grave tire management system developed by Tire Centers LLC (TCI), has been awarded a patent for a “system and method of managing a plurality of tires” by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  The company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Michelin North America, has also announced that it is adding mobile trailer repair services to other commercial truck tire and service offerings.

Introduced in 2010, Track My Tread manages tire assets from purchase through retreading and disposal, providing fleet users with tracking, accountability, automated inventory restocking and access to true lifecycle costing, according to TCI. The proprietary system features simple web access to all tracking and cost management data.

The new mobile trailer services bring a full range of repair and maintenance capabilities to fleet locations, offering tire, lighting and even panel repairs with just a single call, according to TCI.  The company said it has initially launched the new mobile service in a number of locations and will have 50 trailer repair vehicles on the road by the end of 2012.

In other news, TCI said it is continuing to expand its network of tire and service centers with the opening of a new location in Corpus Christi, TX. The company opened seven new centers in 2011 and said it expects to see additional locations added throughout this year.
