Webb Wheel reduces weight of TN trailer hub

Aug. 4, 2014

Webb Wheel said it has redesigned its TN trailer hub to reduce its weight and simplify brake drum installation.

The patent pending design of Webb 2023 TN trailer hub, which is rated at 25,000 lbs., includes a scalloped flange which reduces the overall weight. By incorporating 10 total drum pilots (five combination wheel/drum pilots, five individual drum pilots) which are radially aligned with the studs, the new design reduces the probability of non-concentric mounting by reducing the frictional forces between the hub and drum during the assembly process, Webb explained.

An oil plug pad, which has been relocated and angled, has been added to increase accessibility of the plug after wheel installation. The new 2023 hub weighs 3.5 lbs. less than the previous design resulting in the lightest ductile iron hub available for 25K rated TN trailer axles.

The new Webb TN trailer hub is a direct replacement for all current 2123 and 2023 hub applications.
