America’s Road Team seeks nominations for 2015-16 Team

March 5, 2014

The American Trucking Assns. (ATA) is seeking nominations for drivers to serve on the 2015-16 America’s Road Team.

“America’s Road Team are great ambassadors for our industry,” said Bill Graves, ATA president & CEO. “They have represented all segments of trucking and every region of the country and I look forward to this new team continuing to reflect that diversity.”

Every two years, ATA searches for professional truck drivers, both men and women, who are willing to take time away from the cab of the truck to serve as an industry ambassador. As America’s Road Team Captains, the drivers take a few days each month to meet with the motoring public, the news media, students, transportation officials and public policy makers to demonstrate the trucking industry’s commitment to safety, the essentiality of the trucking industry and the industry’s sustainability record.

In addition, Road Team Captains appear at events ranging from driver safety meetings to National Truck Driving Championships to reinforce the importance of safety and professionalism in our industry.

Since 1986, America’s Road Team Captains have traveled the country educating millions on the importance of safety, the essentiality of the industry and the need for pride and professionalism within trucking.

“Each year, America’s Road Team Captains provide a tremendous service as industry ambassadors to help further our important issues of essentiality, safety and sustainability,” said Göran Nyberg, president, Volvo Trucks North American sales & marketing. “They are elite professional drivers and elite educators, and we’re eager to work with the men and women who will serve as 2015-2016 America’s Road Team Captains.”

To nominate a professional truck driver, read the eligibility requirements and fill out the nomination form found at: www.americasroadteam.com.
