Bill Wanamaker, director of government traffic and security operations for the American Trucking Associations (ATA) recently received the “Seven Seals” award from the Department of Defense (DOD) for his work in support of the National Guard and U.S. Army reservists.
Given by the DOD’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) agency, the “Seven Seals” award is designed to publicly recognize individuals who provide significant achievement, initiative or support that promotes and supports the ESGR’s mission.
Wannamaker, who has handled government traffic efforts at ATA since 2000, has worked for many years to find ways for the trucking industry to support the soldiers in the National Guard and Reserves, noted ATA President and CEO Bill Graves.
“National Guard and Reserve service members have never been deployed in such a continuous and arduous engagement to protect the U.S. as they have been for the past decade,” Wanamaker added. “Our industry needs many thousands of employees that possess the work ethic and discipline that is common among the best fighting force the world has ever known. They have served; now it’s our job to employ them.”
