TL carrier C.R. England is offering a new bonus program for company and independent contractor trainers serving its dedicated and over the road (OTR) divisions, as well as pay increases for solo company drivers working in its Western regional fleet.
The company said trainer bonuses will be paid in one of two ways:
- Once the successful apprentice is placed on a truck and begins running miles, the trainer will make one cent per mile for every mile the apprentice drives, or;
- Trainers will be paid a flat rate for apprentices who move into local or intermodal driving positions, or who work in a salary or mileage band application, as long as they are active 14 out of 30 days each month.
"Our trainers are critical to the success of C.R. England's new drivers," noted Brandon Harrison, C.R. England’s COO, in a statement. "This bonus will provide trainers an opportunity to earn extra income through the success of their apprentices.”
He added that the carrier’s Western regional solo company drivers are getting an average 14.1% pay increase as well this month – a division that represents a large percentage of C. R. England's regional fleets across the nation.
"This pay raise will vary depending on driver tenure, but on average the per driver pay increase equates to four cents more per mile," Harrison said.
