Driving down memory lane

Jan. 8, 2015

The nonprofit Mack Trucks Historical Museum recently celebrated 30 years of commemorating 114 Bulldog years through its collections of vintage Mack trucks, photos and memorabilia.

“The Mack Museum brings to life the rich history of Mack Trucks,” pointed out Stephen Roy, president of Mack Trucks North American sales and marketing. “From Mack’s beginning in Brooklyn to our current truck models, the museum chronicles how Mack became the American truck you can count on.”

Home to the oldest existing Mack—a 40-hp., 28-passenger sightseeing bus— the museum’s other exhibits include one that pays homage to the Bulldog connection to such Hollywood flicks as Cars, Transformers  and Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Nearly 6,000 people from all over the globe visit annually and, as it happens, Bulldog lovers from Australia and the Netherlands are the most frequent of foreign visitors.Housed in the Mack Customer Center in Allentown, PA, the museum is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
