Heavier front axles available on Kenworth T370

Kenworth Truck Co. will be offering heavier front axles on its T370 Class 7 model. The announcement was made this week at the NTEA Work Truck Show here. For trucks equipped with the Paccar PX-9 engine, customers can spec 18,000 lb. or 20,000 lb. front axles. The PX-9 offers engine ratings up to 350 hp. and 1,150 lbs.-ft. of torque. “The Kenworth T370 is already an extremely versatile truck, but now with the new 18,000-pound and 20,000-pound front axles, customers can put more weight on the front ends in fuel hauling, dump, mixer, utility and crane applications,” said Kurt Swihart, Kenworth’s marketing director. “This also allows more payload in a shorter BBC truck package – something our vocational customers will find attractive.” The package includes a heavy duty, cross-brace reinforced front frame assembly. Bolted cross members and either 10 ¾ in. frame rails, or 10 5/8 in. frame rails with inserts complete the chassis package, Kenworth said. Iron hubs, drum brakes, and dual-power steering gears, along with a power steering cooler, are part of the spec package.
