A rear axle apparently blew out on a dump truck traveling along a highway Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 8, and caught the truck's driver completely off guard. But he held it together enough to steer the truck away from others on the road to spare them getting hurt in a wreck.
It all happens very, very quickly and the dump truck is left shattered in many pieces, but thankfully the driver walks away in just one. And during the ordeal — no, you just can't plan these things — The Edgar Winter Group's "Free Ride" provides the soundtrack.
The dash cam keeps filming after the wreck, and a view out what was formerly the driver's window and across the median shows the opposing lanes of traffic, not surprisingly, devolve instantly into rubber-necking. Concerned motorists verify the truck driver is okay. Whew!
