Iowa 80 Truckstop’s 37th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree will kick off Thursday for three full days of all things trucking.

The event will feature nearly 150 exhibits, a Super Truck Beauty Contest, an Antique Truck Display, Iowa pork chop cookout, the Trucker Olympics, and carnival games.  And, as usual, the jamboree features several free concerts:  Dani Lynn Howe Band and Clare Dunn on July 14, courtesy of CAT Scale, and North of 40 and Sammy Kershaw on July 15, presented by Mobil Delvac. Trucking’s Highway Angel Spokesperson Lindsay Lawler will perform on Saturday afternoon, July 16.

Friday afternoon attendees can enjoy a piece of cake at the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum in celebration of the 1916 Mack AC truck’s 100th birthday. Ruth Fruehauf, granddaughter of trailer founder August Fruehauf, will be on hand for a book signing. And there will be fireworks displays on Thursday and Friday night.

“The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is about celebrating America’s truckers and the hard work they do while hauling everything we need,” says Delia Moon Meier, owner. “We are proud and honored to serve professional drivers and thankful that we’ve been allowed to do so for the past 52 years.”

The first Walcott Truckers Jamboree only attracted a few hundred people in 1979 and featured a few exhibits, live music, food and a small display of antique trucks.  Last year’s event attracted more than 42,000 attendees.  It is Iowa 80’s way of showing drivers appreciation for all of their hard work and dedication in hauling America’s freight, the company says.

The 37th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree, will be held July 14-16 at Iowa 80 Truckstop, I-80 Exit 284, Walcott, Iowa. Admission and parking are free.  Shuttles will be provided from the parking area to the event grounds.
