Diesel drops another 3 cents to lowest price since April

For the eighth week in a row, diesel prices across the U.S have slipped, according to data tracked by the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The average U.S. retail pump price for diesel was down 3.2 cents in the July 20 report, to $2.782 per gallon. That’s about $1.09 per gallon cheaper than this time last year, and the lowest price since mid-April.

Diesel prices were down in all regions, with the Central Atlantic seeing a drop of 5.3 cents to $.2985, while the price was down 4.6 cents on the West Coast, not including California, to $2.873.

The price of a gallon of diesel dipped 3.4 cents on Gulf Coast in to $2.674, the lowest diesel price average in the country and just edging out the Midwest region, which saw a 2.5 cent decline to $2.679.

The highest price for diesel in the contiguous 48 states remains in California, where the price for the week was $3.111, down 2.2 cents.
