The DOT has packed a lot of information into its 118-page proposal to require speed limiting devices on heavy-duty vehicles. Here we highlight some of the basics: the cost-benefit analyses on the three suggested speed settings, the requirements for new trucks, the possibility of requiring older trucks to be retrofit, and the proposed penalties for non-compliance.

The Dept. of Transportation has packed a lot of information into its 118-page Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to require speed limiting devices on heavy-duty vehicles. Here we highlight some of the basics: the cost-benefit analyses on the three possible speed settings, the requirements for new trucks, the possibility of requiring older trucks to be retrofit, and the proposed penalties for non-compliance.
