Covenant Transport buys TopKit for long-term fuel mileage testing

SmartTruck Systems, an aerodynamic solutions provider, said Covenant Transport has purchased its precision aerodynamic TopKit Fairing System for long-term evaluation after successful results from short-term testing.

"Covenant Transport has already performed extensive short-term tests on our TopKit System," said SmartTruck CEO Stephen S. Ingham Jr. "Based on the positive testing results, Covenant is now purchasing 40 of our TopKit units for long-term testing."

"Covenant Transport has been very pleased with the results of our tests to date of SmartTruck's TopKit System, as seeking fuel-economy and energy-efficient products is part of our company's mission," said Joey Hogan, president. "We are looking forward to the ability to expand testing of SmartTruck's cutting-edge line of products to our vehicles."

SmartTruck's TopKit Fairing System is an approach to aerodynamically increasing long-haul trucking fuel mileage, the company said. Covenant Transport is an advocate on environmental issues and policies including the EPA SmartWay program. SmartTruck said TopKit testing is the latest in a series of technology initiatives undertaken by the company to seek a cleaner environment and fuel cost savings.

"Covenant has a rigorous testing process with very high standards," Ingham said. "We are delighted that our TopKit System has been purchased by Covenant, as the company is a premium fleet, and SmartTruck is a premiere products company. We both take great pride in delivering exactly what we promise."
