Subscribers to Nextel Online, a wireless service from Nextel Communications Inc., can now view the shipping status of their packages with FedEx Express and FedEx Ground through a wireless website dedicated to mobile package-tracking and drop-off services.

FedEx Express and FedEx Ground are the only package and freight transportation companies included on Nextel Online, which currently has a domestic base of approximately 1.7-million data subscribers, representing nearly 20% of Nextel's total domestic subscriber base. FedEx said the advantage for Nextel Online subscribers is the ease and convenience they have in using FedEx tracking for their important packages, in addition to access to detailed information on FedEx drop-off locations, including driving directions.

"The addition of FedEx services to our wireless portal is a strong enhancement to the wireless business services available to our subscribers," said Tim Dunne, vp, business development at Nextel.
