A pair of distracted driving simulators will be part of an event starting today and running through Friday at Bill’s Truck Stop off I-85 in Linwood, NC. The event is being put on by Bennett International Group and the Owner Operators Independent Drivers Assn. (OOIDA) to serve as a driver recruitment and safety awareness event.
It is free and open to the public.
“Bennett’s owner/operators transport hundreds of loads on the road every day, and our aggressive safety culture ensures that public safety is always our priority,” said Phil Hibbs, Bennett’s vice president of safety. “We think these simulators are a valuable tool for helping the public understand the consequences of driving while distracted.”"
Bennett is a full-service transportation company offering transportation and logistics services.
The event at Bill’s, which will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, will offer both truck drivers and the general public the opportunity to feel the effects – and consequences - of distracted driving using both NASCAR and Mustang driving simulators.
For professional drivers looking for work, Bennett will have recruiters on hand to accept applications.
