The Mobile Logistics Management System from Cadec Corp. combines a new onboard computer with multi-modal communications and a suite of management software applications based on open architecture standards for easy integration with routing, dispatch, and other fleet business systems.

The TransLinc onboard computer is a Windows CE unit that can be used as a basic vehicle monitor or be configured to provide drivers with a complete in-cab office. Features include an integrated GPS receiver, 18 switched inputs and outputs, and two PCMCIA card slots. Serial ports can be combined with Cadec's CommLinc communications suite to handle satellite, terrestrial, or other wireless data channels for two-way messaging and data transfers.

The new onboard is also equipped with an IRDA interface for an optional MobileLinc handheld unit. The Windows CE handheld can be used for signature capture and includes an integrated bar code scanner, as well as industry standard drivers for portable printers and other peripherals.

Running in a client/server environment under Windows NT/2000, OfficeLinc generates reports using Microsoft SQL for easy integration to other back office applications. The suite's reporting options include DOT logs, state fuel tax information, and driver performance reviews. It also provides Internet connectivity and a data bridge to simplify upgrades from existing Cadec platforms.
