Thomas W. O'Boyle, senior-vp and group executive for Eaton Corp.'s Truck Group, will retire on June 30, 2001. Effective July 1, James E. Sweetnam, currently vp-heavy-duty transmission, clutch and aftermarket operations for the Truck Group, will assume O'Boyle's position. Thomas W. O'Boyle, senior-vp and group executive for Eaton Corp.'s Truck Group, will retire on June 30, 2001. Effective July 1, James E. Sweetnam, currently vp-heavy-duty transmission, clutch and aftermarket operations for the Truck Group, will assume O'Boyle's position.

Like his predecessor, Sweetnam will have corporate-wide responsibility for the company's South American operations, as well as the Eaton Quality Institute and Business Excellence program. He will report to Eaton chairman and CEO Alexander M. Cutler, and will be based at the company's headquarters in Cleveland.

O'Boyle is retiring after 34 years with Eaton.
