Using the wireless data network of Southern LINC, TracerNET Corp. is offering an automated fleet management system that provides real-time cargo delivery status and vehicle location information without any driver input. The system is designed for direct interface with most common back office systems, including dispatch, payroll and supply-chain management applications.

“We help customers automate their supply chain by combining embedded decision support software in an intelligent vehicle platform with various onboard sensors,” says TracerNet president and CEO Rick Beyer. “Most of our customers have 500 or more vehicles and need full back-end integration, not just simple tracking information.”

A subsidiary of the Southern Co. energy company, Southern LINC provides wireless data and voice services in Alabama, Georgia, southeastern Mississippi and northwest Florida using Motorola's iDEN technology. Data can be fed to either a web-based or client/server application.
