NEXIQ Technologies, a Manchester, NH-based provider of transportation diagnostics products and Internet-based telematics solutions, has acquired Diversified Software Industries (DSI) of Coralville, IA, an independent software solutions developer 40% owned by Motorola. ESRI's ArcSDE 8.1 geographical information system software has been extended to support Microsoft's recently introduced SQL Server 2000, which provides new ways to handle image data types and database views. www.esri.com/arcsde

McLeod Software's web-based electronic data interchange module, WebEDI, is now available as a standalone product for companies that may not be McLeod LoadMaster customers but want the benefits of this low-cost method of transferring data between carriers and customers via the Internet. www.mcleodsoftware.

E-Technician telematics services, due for release by NEXIQ Technologies later this year, will make it possible for fleet managers to access truck data in real time with applications such as driver-performance monitoring, billing odometer reading, pre-arrival diagnostics, fuel management, and warranty monitoring, and more. www.nexiq.com

Logistics.com CEO John Lanigan was presented the Robert D. Pashek Award by Pennsylvania State University at the recent R. Hadly Waters Logistics and Transportation Symposium. The award is given annually to a logistics professional who has made significant contributions to the practice and development of logistics and transportation. The award is named for the late Robert D. Pashek, associate dean emeritus of the Smeal College of Business Administration and a leader in the development of logistics studies at the university.

APL Logistics has appointed Glynis Bryan as its new CFO. Bryan spent more than 17 years with transportation and logistics giant Ryder System, serving in a variety of positions in financial management and business development. Most recently she was appointed senior vp and selected to lead the development of a capital services business for Ryder that was its entry into the financial services arena.
