Tom Linebarger is slated to become the new president & COO of Cummins Inc. on August 1, replacing Joe Loughrey, who is moving up to vice chairman until he retires in March 2009.

Linebarger currently serves as president of Cummins’ power generation division. He joined Cummins in 1994, and has served in various roles over the last decade and a half, including managing director of Cummins turbo technologies and vp of its engine business supply chain unit before being named CFO in 2000 – a role he held for three years.

Prior to joining Cummins, Linebarger worked as an investment manager for Prudential Investment Corp.
