Mack Trucks will be the primary sponsor of American Trucking Assns.’ 2009 Share the Road program, aimed at teaching car drivers the proper way to safely drive around large trucks. This will be the ninth consecutive year Mack has sponsored the program.

The Share the Road program travels to hundreds of U.S. cities each year, reaching millions of motorists. A group of professional truck drivers with excellent safety records conduct demonstrations on potential blind spots and safe following distances for media, students, community leaders and highway users, Mack said.

“This program is an excellent way to get trucking’s safety message out to large groups of people,” said Dennis Slagle, Mack president & CEO. “Mack backed up our commitment earlier this year by providing a Mack Pinnacle tractor for theShare the Road team to use in the media demonstrations. This is the second truck we’ve provided in recent years and it already has traveled more than 50,000 miles in service of the program.”
