LOUISVILLE. Air-Weigh introduced an addition to its QuickLoad onboard scale product line. The new standalone trailer scale, which the company said incorporates Air-Weigh’s proven electronics, software and sensor technology and is packaged in an environmentally sealed enclosure, debuted here last week at the Mid-America Trucking Show.

The scale is designed to be mounted on the outside of any trailer and Air-Weigh said it can be installed in about 20 minutes with either permanent adhesive or hidden through-bolts.

It features an advanced graphics display with a completely sealed touch-screen interface as well as molded electrical and air comnections. The new scale design completely eliminates any openings in the enclosure for buttons, switches, panels, connectors or air fittings, the company stated,.

Air-Weigh said other “breakthrough technologies” in the new trailer scale include:

  • Integrated single or dual weight sensors
  • Battery operation for untethered applications
  • Standard serial data communication port
  • Built-in warning weight and overweight alarm LED flashers
The alarm LEDs can be set to flash at any warning weight and then go “solid” at a programmable overweight threshold. The scale’s industry-standard serial data interface can be set to either J1939 or RS485 data protocols, Air-Weigh added.
