A new monitoring center for truckload freight brokers, 3PLs, and shippers, has been launched by TransCore.

The CarrierWatch Insurance Monitoring Center works with insurance agents to investigate certificate of insurance data regarding general liability, auto (truck) liability, workers’ compensation, and contingency cargo requirements, the company said.

“Insurance matters have become a bit like legal matters: they’re increasingly specialized, and trucking insurance is no exception when you consider the potential magnitude of the claims,” said David Schrader, TransCore senior vice president. “The CarrierWatch Insurance Monitoring Center, part of our award-winning customer service organization, is a cornerstone of our business, along with the DAT Network of load boards and the spot market truckload rate index.”

Kathi Marth will lead the Center. Marth has 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, including more than a decade in transportation insurance management, TransCore said.

The Center will offer a multitude of services such as procuring and monitoring carriers’ insurance certificates, including those carriers who are not part of TransCore’s DAT Network of load boards. CarrierWatch also monitors carriers’ authority and CSA scores, and maintains a database housing millions of carrier records, which helps identify and protect against “chameleon” carriers and others who engage in fraudulent business practices, TransCore said.

The Center will also serve as a resource center for freight intermediaries and carriers trying to navigate complex insurance requirements.
