CIO magazine has named Old Dominion Freight Line to its 2010 “CIO 100” listing. The editorial salute, now in its 23rd year, recognizes organizations that exemplify operational and strategic excellence in information technology.

“At Old Dominion, our company’s position is ‘Helping the World Keep Promises,’ and we could not deliver on our pledge if we did not have the right technology in place,” said David Congdon, president & CEO. “We are always striving to make the best use of technology to benefit our customers, and it is always appreciated to be recognized with an honor such as this.”

It was stated that Old Dominion has a 98.9% on-time delivery record, one of the lowest claims ratios in the industry and high billing accuracy.

“Our technology, coupled with the very best people, allows us to keep our promises to our customers and makes us one of the most financially stable companies in the industry,” Congdon added. “I would also like to recognize Ken Erdner [Old Dominion’s vp and director of information systems & technology) for his role in leading our IT team with their development efforts over the last 14 years.”

The 2010 CIO 100 awards will be presented at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, on Aug. 24 at the conclusion of the 12th annual CIO 100 Symposium and Awards Ceremony.

CIO is targeted at information technology executives.
