The American Trucking Assns. has awarded A. Duie Pyle, a regional LTL carrier serving the Northeast, with one of its President’s Awards-- the highest safety awards it confers on motor carriers.

The President's Trophy is presented by the ATA and its Safety Management Council to one carrier in each of the following categories: under 25 million miles (small fleet); 25 to 100 million miles (mid-size fleet); and over 100 million miles (large fleet).

The carrier had previously won the mid-size award in 2005, and per the rules, was not eligible to win again until this year.

“What is great about this award is that it recognizes the commitment and ongoing contribution of our entire company,” said Steve O'Kane, president of A. Duie Pyle. “We hire safety-conscious people and then provide our people with the best in-house training available in the industry. We have a premier program that is raising safety standards in the Northeast.”

To be eligible for the award, a carrier must place in the top three in its division in either the ATA National Truck (accident prevention) or Industrial Safety (injury prevention) contests. A review of safety procedures, hours of service monitoring, equipment maintenance and more is undertaken.
