Just one year after winning the contract to service Sysco Corp., Exel Transportation has been named Sysco's 2008 Supply Chain Intermodal Carrier of the Year for on-time performance, capacity commitment and responsive customer service.
Exel Transportation is an operating unit of Exel and a Duetsche Post DHL company. During 2008, Exel Transportation managed more than 300 loads per month from approximately 50 Sysco vendors to company-owned distribution centers throughout the U.S. The company, which provides third-part y brokerage and intermodal services, utilized its Tritan management system, a web-based, real-time application for shipments and loads, determining carriers, tendering and tracking loads, and settling invoices, the company said.
"We're grateful to Sysco for this honor recognizing our ability to add value to their business," said Philip Johnson, vp-national accounts for Exel Transportation. "It's certainly rewarding to see our team acknowledged for exceeding customer expectations related to increased carrier reliability and performance, reduced errors and improved visibility for greater supply chain management."
