Chris Hermanson, 21, an employee of tarping systems manufacturer Aero Industries was featured on CBS News' The Early Show March 30 as part of its American Hero segment for aiding an Omaha police officer in capturing a convicted murderer and rapist.
During a late night visit to a local gas station last November, Hermanson witnessed a police officer struggling with someone who was reaching for the officer’s gun.
Hermanson, a four-time national wrestling champion in high school, grabbed the suspect's arm. Using his wrestling experience, Hermanson used a technique called the "Barb Wire" to pin down the suspect until the officer could restrain him with handcuffs.
The suspect, Leroy Roberts, Jr., was released on parole before the incident and is currently in jail.
