Retail giant Wal-Mart Stores has named Roadway Express its 2001 Less-Than-Truckload carrier of the year.

Wal-Mart's annual carrier of the year award recognizes carriers' value of performance in customer service, incremental capacity and service commitments, flexibility, pro-active communication and ease of doing business.

Roadway continues to create support for Wal-Mart's current and future supply chain strategies through both freight movement and information services. Akron, OH-based Roadway said its systems enable employees to treat each shipment as unique, even though over 50,000 shipments are picked up and delivered daily for Wal-Mart.
