Cummins recently launched PowerSpec, an Internet-based tool that gives customers access to their engine control systems and electronic features, and lets them choose which electronic options they want on Signature 600, ISX and ISM models.

Through a direct datalink, PowerSpec enables authorized users, including dealers, distributors and operators, to upload parameters to an engine's ECM for relatively quick and easy modification of electronic features. Settings can be downloaded to a disk and brought to a dealer or distributor for engine programming, or printed for later reference. The system provides detailed information on configuration features and parameters, as well as operation theory and driving techniques.

According to Cummins, PowerSpec's user-friendly prompts allow dealers to easily adjust engine parameters to meet individual customer needs prior to vehicle delivery.

PowerSpec can be accessed via the Cummins web site, www.cummins.com, or via www.powerspec.cummins.com.

The engine maker plans to expand PowerSpec to include features and parameters for the full line of Interact System products.
