TransCore, a provider of load matching services, has introduced an online method for shippers and freight brokers to validate and monitor carrier credentials. CarrierWatch is a database that stores information on over 25,000 North American motor carriers.
Users can implement as many as 60 criteria to determine the ideal carrier. With the service, companies responsible for freight can avoid risky carriers that are unsafe, unauthorized, or uninsured. In addition, CarrierWatch will reduce paperwork associated with hiring and can serve as a source for finding additional equipment capacity, TransCore says.
Twin Modal, a freight broker that contracts with over 17,000 carriers in North America, will use the service.
“Trying to maintain current data on their insurance, equipment and safety ratings, and even their phone and fax numbers, can be a real challenge,” said Twin Modal president & CEO Chip Smith. “With CarrierWatch, we’ll be able to maintain our current data more effectively and more cost-effectively than we can on our own.”
