Canadian LTL carrier Vitran Corp.’s president & CEO Richard Gaetz has been named the “Transportation Person of the Year,” awarded by the Ontario Trucking Association as part of Canada’s National Transportation Week observance.

The 36th annual award, presented by the Ontario Minister of Transportation, recognizes an individual in Canada’s transportation sector who has assumed a leadership role to advance a company or the field of transportation.

Gaetz got the nod for his 15-year tenure at Vitran, including the last three as president & CEO, for growing Vitran’s annual revenues past $400 million, its safety record, and acquisition track record to set the carrier up for future expansion.
